For this assignment, we were asked to design a shampoo bottle through the lens of form that follows nature. I wanted to rethink what a shampoo bottle is — not just a disposable container, but a companion object that lives with us.
My design is a refillable aluminum shampoo robot. The body is durable and reusable, reducing the waste of traditional plastic bottles. The shampoo itself is stored in small refill pods, so instead of discarding the bottle, the user replaces the pod, minimizing environmental impact and extending the life of the product.
To make the experience more meaningful, I added a small moment of joy:
When you press the pump, the robot’s eyes light up softly as shampoo is dispensed.
This detail is intentional — it transforms a routine task into a tiny emotional interaction.
Shower time becomes playful, comforting, and personal.
If we can design fun into sustainable objects, then sustainability becomes something people want to engage with — not a chore.
This bottle demonstrates that responsibility and delight are not mutually exclusive.
We can care for the planet while also making everyday rituals more human, expressive, and alive.
