"Photios" is a speculative design project informed by material experimentation and the pursuit of emotional well-being. For this piece, I chose to work with glass blowing and committed myself to learning the technique hands-on. The process of shaping molten glass taught me patience, presence, and sensitivity to heat, breath, timing, and the material's behavior. That curiosity — the willingness to try, learn, and feel through making — is central to my practice.
The object I am creating is a light source designed to support mood regulation. I’m using yellow light, which research associates with warmth, optimism, serotonin activation, and emotional uplift. The goal of the project is straightforward: to help alleviate moments of heaviness, anxiety, or low emotional energy by using light as a gentle form of care.
Rather than designing a purely functional lamp, I wanted to make something that feels alive, something that brings comfort just by being present. Glass glowing from within has a quiet, almost breathing quality — warm, soft, and calming.
